Light is usually the first thing that I will pay attention when photographing landscapes. In this instance the day was cloudy and flat. If I make the effort to get out on a day like this I will usually look for lines instead of the light to make the photo more interesting. In this instance the snow around the shore of the Ottawa river almost perfectly mirrored the trees on the island of the river. After that is was just a matter of adding some movement to the water with a longer exposure.
